At the foot of the Stilfserjoch close to Switzerland, lies the resort of Bormio that dates back over 2000 years. The resort renowned for having hosted the alpine ski world championships twice, in 1985 and 2005. At the end of every year, during the festive holiday season, Bormio is a stopover resort for the Alpine Ski World Cup with its famous Stelvio piste, which is over 4km long and considered to be the best suited for this kind of race.
